Private Bassoon Studio
I maintain a small private studio from my home in Dallas, and at the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. There is no minimum age or ability level to study with me; I really love working with all kinds of students! My only requirements are a positive attitude and a strong practice ethic. Remember, each student’s success is based on commitment to frequent and effective practice! As of August 2020, I have two private studio spots available, and am teaching remotely via Zoom.

After about two years of study, most students can expect:
A 3+ octave range
Memorization and proficiency of all major and minor scales
Increased rhythmic proficiency
A well-cultivated vibrato
Elevated expressive capacity
Improved practice techniques
Increased insight on successful audition and performance strategies
Mastery of all applicable solo and competition repertoire
Handmade reeds customized to each student’s needs
Each lesson will consist of scales, an etude, and a solo or other repertoire based on the student’s needs (solo contest, all-region, etc.). Each student and parent will be provided with a lesson sheet detailing what repertoire and concepts were covered, new fingerings, and assignments for the following session.
Scholarships for private study are available to Dallas ISD students enrolled at Booker T. Washington HSPVA. Bassoonists wishing to enroll at BTWHSPVA can click here for more information.
